Michael
Michael is a friend from Canada who is unfortunate enough to be living in London. He is studying
conducting at the Royal Academy of Music, but will be leaving in July to take up his new job with the
Winnipeg (Canada) Symphony Orchestra.
As with most of my recent shoots, I shot most of these photos on Ilford XP2 Super using my Bronica
SQ-Ai. I used an orange filter for most of the photos as well. I made all of these prints myself.

These are two portrait-style photos. The second is one of my favorites.

I call these two the "crazy conductor" photos. Sadly, it's unlikely that the orchestra will let Mike use one
of these as his publicity photo! The second is slightly out of focus, probably because Mike moved
forward a bit as I pressed the shutter release, but it looks good as long as you don't look too closely, and
the pose was too good to discard the frame.
Outtakes

After we finished with the studio photos, Mike and his wife, Catherine, surfed the web on my computer
while I harassed them with a fisheye lens. These photos were shot on Ilford Pan F Plus. If you've ever
hard a grain problem, this film will solve it! These prints aren't enormous, 8x8 inches, but are effectively
grainless. I developed the film in Ilfosol S, but could probably get even better grain (or lack of it) with
Perceptol.
